If you choose a product or service that you are familiar with and can promote well, then you will have better odds of making more sales. The more sales you make, the more money you will earn. You will have to come up with ways of getting potential customers to your website, and then will need to convince them to make a purchase while they are there, which can be difficult if you aren't comfortable with or don't know anything about the products and services that you are trying to promote.

Most merchants who offer affiliate programs will provide you with training and product materials, as well as some website banners and items that you can use in your marketing campaigns. You are not required to use this information, and may do better with your own unique creations.

Try to locate affiliate programs that offer the most affiliate benefits, and the highest commission amounts. Try to find a program that will allow you to have your own affiliates signing up under you, so that you can earn not only from your own sales, but from theirs as well. Many people will buy a product, try it out, and then jump at the chance to promote it, assuming they really like the product.
